The one film in the series where Lucas managed
decent performances across the board, (including the non-human
characters). Thus Episode IV has a bit stronger emotional core and more
credible interplay, essential for top replay honors in this
technology-driven series.
At the time set a new standard in quick pacing for
science fiction films. While that aspect is no longer distinct, the
adventures, battles, character interaction and special effects keep the
film engaging.
Because the film and score were so popular, it
suffers some from over exposure, but dust it off every few years and
you'll enjoy the company of some winsome space rebels. A special note
of gratitude for the Imperial Stormtrooper's consistently bad aim.
